HOLY FATHER RESTING WELL, EATING SOLID FOODS
VATICAN CITY, OCT 11, 1996 (VIS) - The third medical bulletin following Pope John Paul's October 8 appendix surgery was released today by the Holy See Press Office:
"The Holy Father's post-operative phase is proceeding regularly.
"The patient continues to show no signs of changes in temperature or abdominal pain.
"He slept peacefully during the night.
"Yesterday intestinal functions became normal.
"Diuresis remains within the norm.
"Nourishment is progressively being integrated with solid foods.
"The Holy Father has walked a number of times in the corridor outside his room.
"He has dedicated much time to prayer and reading and has held brief
audiences with his closest collaborators."
