A Plea for Peaceful Coexistence in Jerusalem
VATICAN CITY, OCT. 26, 2001 (Zenit.org).- The final message of the Synod of Bishops includes an appeal that Jerusalem become a city where Jews, Muslims and Christians are all respected and welcomed.
The text, presented today to the press, makes an uncommon call, personifying the Holy City "where God is revealed in history."
"We pray for your well-being!" the final message says. "May all the children of Abraham meet once again in you with genuine respect for one another's rights. May you remain, for all the peoples of the earth, an everlasting symbol of hope and peace."
