Holy Father's Calendar: December 22 - January 11

VATICAN CITY, DEC 6, 1997 (VIS) - The following is the calendar of scheduled celebrations at which the Holy Father will preside from December 22 to January 11:

DECEMBER

Monday, 22
At 11:30 a.m., audience in the Clementine Hall of the Apostolic Palace with the cardinals, the Pontifical Family and the Roman Curia for Christmas greetings.
Wednesday, 24
There will be no weekly general audience. Midnight Mass in St. Peter's Basilica for the Solemnity of the Birth of Our Lord.
Thursday, 25
Solemnity of the Birth of Our Lord. At noon, Christmas message and "Urbi et Orbi" blessing from the central loggia of St. Peter's Basilica.
Friday, 26
Feast of St. Stephen. Angelus.
Wednesday, 31
There will be no weekly general audience. At 5:30 p.m. in the church of St. Ignatius Loyola, Vespers and Te Deum in thanksgiving for the end of the year.

JANUARY 1998

Thursday, 1
Solemnity of Mary, Most Holy Mother of God and 31st World Day for Peace. Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's Basilica.
Saturday, 3
At 8:30 p.m., rosary in the Paul VI Hall.
Tuesday, 6
Solemnity of the Epiphany of Our Lord. Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Basilica and episcopal ordination of archbishops and bishops elect.
Saturday, 10
At 11 a.m. in the Sala Regia, audience with the diplomatic corps accredited to the Holy See, for the New Year's greeting.
Sunday, 11
Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. Mass at 10 a.m. in the Sistine Chapel and Baptism of a group of infants.
