Holy Father's Calendar: December 22 - January 11
VATICAN CITY, DEC 6, 1997 (VIS) - The following is the calendar of scheduled celebrations at which the Holy Father will preside from December 22 to January 11:
DECEMBER
- Monday, 22
- At 11:30 a.m., audience in the Clementine Hall of the Apostolic Palace with the cardinals, the Pontifical Family and the Roman Curia for Christmas greetings.
- Wednesday, 24
- There will be no weekly general audience. Midnight Mass in St. Peter's Basilica for the Solemnity of the Birth of Our Lord.
- Thursday, 25
- Solemnity of the Birth of Our Lord. At noon, Christmas message and "Urbi et Orbi" blessing from the central loggia of St. Peter's Basilica.
- Friday, 26
- Feast of St. Stephen. Angelus.
- Wednesday, 31
- There will be no weekly general audience. At 5:30 p.m. in the church of St. Ignatius Loyola, Vespers and Te Deum in thanksgiving for the end of the year.
JANUARY 1998
- Thursday, 1
- Solemnity of Mary, Most Holy Mother of God and 31st World Day for Peace. Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's Basilica.
- Saturday, 3
- At 8:30 p.m., rosary in the Paul VI Hall.
- Tuesday, 6
- Solemnity of the Epiphany of Our Lord. Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Basilica and episcopal ordination of archbishops and bishops elect.
- Saturday, 10
- At 11 a.m. in the Sala Regia, audience with the diplomatic corps accredited to the Holy See, for the New Year's greeting.
- Sunday, 11
- Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. Mass at 10 a.m. in the Sistine Chapel and Baptism of a group of infants.
