BEIJING, NOV. 6, 2001 (Zenit.org).- The government of Zhejiang province in eastern China has demolished the Catholic church of the town of Linjiayuan for the third time in 18 months.
UCA News, a Catholic press agency in Thailand, reported that the town's residents took advantage of the national holiday, from Oct. 1-7, to reconstruct their church, but the government demolished it Oct. 25.
The government made this decision after Catholics refused to become members of the local section of the state-controlled "patriotic" church.
